Vince Zampella, renowned for co-creating the globally famous first-person shooter Call of Duty, has tragically died in a car accident in California he was 55 years old.

Zampella's death was verified by Electronic Arts, which owns Respawn Entertainment, the video game company which he helped establish.

The celebrated video game developer lost his life when his automobile collided and was engulfed in flames on a motorway in the Los Angeles area on Sunday, as reported by.

"This is a heartbreaking loss, and we stand with Vince's family, his family, and the countless individuals inspired by his legacy," an official with Electronic Arts commented.
