Manchester United Poised to Secure Germany Forward Lea Schüller from Bayern Munich

Manchester United are on the verge of sealing the deal for prolific German forward Lea Schüller in a permanent move away from the Frauen-Bundesliga champions.

A Major Acquisition for United

The forward, with six months left on her deal, is known as a consistent goalscorer for both club and country. She has scored more than 100 goals for Bayern and found the net 54 times in 82 appearances for Germany. This signing is viewed as a major coup for the Women’s Super League side.

Her exit from Bayern was expected since she appeared to be holding back emotions while applauding the German club’s supporters after a victory over Bayer Leverkusen recently.

It was reported in late December that the German women's top flight was losing one of its leading strikers. According to multiple sources, the formalities for the transfer have now been completed.

Reliable Goalscoring to Boost the Attack

The 28-year-old’s signing is expected to provide a significant boost to United’s forward line. Schüller has been remarkably consistent with her finishing in the Bundesliga.

• For seven straight seasons, up to and including the most recent campaign, she achieved at least a double-figures tally of league goals.
• She won the Golden Boot in the 2021-22 season with a haul of 16 goals.

Securing the German international coincides with a period when United seem to be gathering positive momentum.

1. The acquisition of Swedish defender Hanna Lundkvist on a multi-year deal.
2. The new deal for Japan midfielder Hinata Miyazawa, a fan favourite since joining in 2023.

On the midfielder's new deal, a club official stated: “Miyazawa is now a vital part to the way we play. Her footballing intelligence and technical ability allows her and the team to dominate play from central areas.”

The new defender, having arrived from a side from the American league, added: “You can feel how much they [United] have progressed in the last few years, competing in one of the strongest leagues in the world and now featuring in the Champions League.”
