Jujutsu Kaisen: The Execution Film Strives to Address the Series' Biggest Issue

JuJutsu Kaisen: Execution is not entirely an original feature. Rather, the latest movie from the JuJutsu Kaisen supernatural series is a compilation of the anime's second season combined with the initial episodes of its next season, which kicks off the Culling Games narrative from the source material. This positions Execution, which recently received a fresh preview, the first way to view the commencement of the upcoming season ahead of its January 2026 premiere. The film debuts in Japan on Nov. 7, and in North America on Dec. 5.

The Culling Games Plot

In the Culling Games plot, Elite sorcerer Yuta Okkotsu makes his entrance into the show and is charged by jujutsu officials to eliminate his fellow student Yuji Itadori. Their highly anticipated battle unfolds for the initial time on the big screen, and if the animators at the studio have something as special as installments 40 and 41 prepared for fans this holiday season, JuJutsu Kaisen: Execution may turn out to be the present that everyone has hoped for.

The "Thunderclap" Controversy

"Thunderclap" from season two is widely regarded as a top-tier scene in the history of anime, despite the significant debate in the previous year when the installments originally aired. It was reported that the animation team were facing tight schedules to the degree, and the released version that was shown at the time was incomplete and allegedly not what the animators initially intended.

The Legendary Fight

The sequence involves a long-awaited battle between two strong jujutsu users, the King of Curses and the Eight-Handled Sword. It features unique visual techniques, superb cinematography, and intense action. A subsequent physical media version gave the animators a chance to add additional scenes to enhance the battle. So it appeared likely Execution could enhance the fight further. However, looking at the latest preview, it's hard to tell if that battle has undergone further polishing. It'd be a letdown if it didn't, because a sequence that grand has to be experienced on the cinema screen with the optimal viewing experience.

Season Two's Achievement

The second installment of JuJutsu Kaisen propelled the series to become 2024's anime of the year, and when the Thunderclap episodes were aired consecutively, it was the topic of conversation for weeks in the series' fanbase. Audiences had heard of the problems with the production, which made them appreciate what they witnessed even more. People eagerly awaited to see if the home release, launched in mid-March, would feature extra content to the sequence or to see if it was improved in any way, and were thrilled to see exactly that, alongside reshades, enhanced animation, and revised visual style.

The Feature's Advantage

But the physical release can only improve what has initially broadcast in the television version, whereas the cinematic experience has the potential to fully realize the scene with more adjustments and completely new animated sequences.

A Crowning Achievement

At present, these pair of installments serve as the pinnacle of JuJutsu Kaisen, and should be treated as such by the studio, particularly given the controversy they underwent at the time. It's drawn the focus of viewers all over the globe, and the Culling Games storyline is a much-expected plotline of the coming year. If Mappa wants to begin the year strongly, revisit the show's top scene once again in movie houses with the finest version we've experienced so far.
