People have gathered across the country to remember 24 months since the Hamas-led assault on October 7th, 2023, as negotiations proceeded in Egypt over a resolution to the hostilities in the Gaza Strip.

The assault saw in excess of 1,200 people losing their lives and 251 others abducted back to Gaza as hostages. It was the most deadliest day for Jewish people since the Holocaust.

Israel reacted by launching a defensive operation in Gaza which has taken in excess of 67,000 people, as reported by the area's Hamas-controlled health ministry. Its numbers are regarded as reliable by the United Nations and other global organizations.

"The bloodthirsty opponents have struck forcefully, but they have not defeated us," Benjamin Netanyahu remarked on that day.

He also promised to "realize all the objectives of the war: the homecoming of all the kidnapped, the destruction of the Hamas government and the guarantee that Gaza will not create a danger to Israel".

Memorial Events Across Israel

The government authorities rescheduled official commemorations until mid-October - after the end of the festive season - but ceremonies still occurred around the country on Tuesday.

A commemorative event for the relatives of Israeli citizens killed in the Hamas incident was organized in Tel Aviv. Put together by the families themselves, it was aired throughout Israeli television channels.

A period earlier, a silent tribute was held throughout the country.

Ceasefire Meetings in Egypt

At the same time, the conflicting parties' delegations convened in the North African Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh for a second day of third-party negotiations to discuss the provisions of the plan.

A high-ranking representative involved in the negotiations said that an late session of indirect talks started at evening in Egypt.

The official stated the day's discussions finished without significant progress, due to disagreements over the proposed Israeli retreat arrangements from Gaza and over safeguards Hamas demands to ensure Israel does not resume hostilities after the first phase of the arrangement.

He added that the discussions are "challenging and have yet to deliver any major advancement," but pointed out that intermediaries are striving to narrow the disparities between the conflicting groups.

Essential Matters in Discussions

  • A lasting ceasefire
  • The trade of the captives still detained by Hamas for detainees from Gaza
  • The removal of military personnel from Gaza
  • Arrangements for assistance deliveries
  • After-conflict administration of the area

Citizen Sentiment

In the city's public square previously, young a woman - whose sibling lived through the attack on the outdoor event, where 378 people were murdered and dozens more were captured by Hamas militants - shared: "Nowhere feels like home now and until each abducted person return no one will be secure."

"After we see everyone home again, we can breathe once more. Then we can begin to rebuild," she concluded.

Near the prime minister's home in the capital, people congregated to show their support for the families of the abducted. Israel states nearly fifty stay in captivity in Gaza, twenty of whom are thought to be alive.

Activist Atalia Regev stated: "It's necessary do whatever arrangement required for the captives to return. But we truly desire assurances that we will be protected."

Surveys now frequently demonstrate that about 70% of Israelis want the hostilities to finish in as payment for the liberation of the abducted.

Palestinian Conditions

At the location of the gathering, those paying respects assembled to remember the victims.

From that location, the sound of military attacks and artillery could be detected just a brief space away in Gaza, where witnesses said the intense Israeli shelling persisted.

In Gaza City, air and artillery strikes were reported in the morning of Tuesday in the west side Tal al-Hawa, area and locality neighbourhoods and in the eastern neighbourhood of that sector, as well the settlement to the north-west.

"Once the dusk arrives, the anxiety comes with it," evacuated urban resident a local woman, whose young son was killed by an Israeli bombing earlier, shared.

"Me and my three children are terrified of the bombings. All the night we are resting together, holding each other, especially my little child who rests his head on me all night."

"Continuously we check the news to see developments. And I'm afraid that this truce will not be achieved and that the fighting will resume to us."

Health Situation

The medical facility in Gaza City reported it had accepted the remains of several people by the midday, including a trio who died in an Israeli attack in the south part al-Sabra neighbourhood.

A different healthcare center in the southern city of the city said two more dead people had been transported. A person was killed by Israeli forces while seeking help to the southern area, medical staff reported.

The territory's health ministry said 25 of the {territ
