Iran Reports Assault on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Widespread Counterattacks.

Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed operations across the region in retaliation for a large-scale and continuing assault against it by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area near the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any damage is uncertain and the US has not commented.

Airspace Engagements

Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - stated they have shot down missiles in their territorial skies.

In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.

IRGC Statement

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the offensive on Iran carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.

That preceding assault - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck areas linked to the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the Iranian people to revolt against the government.

Wider Impacts

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military said it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems responded to the projectiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a series of missiles," it added.

It said missile fragments landed in a residential area in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some material damage and killing a civilian.

The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
